Glitch gearing up for beta.

After a year of alpha testing, Tiny Speck’s Flash-based MMO Glitch is finally ready for beta. Set inside “the minds of eleven peculiarly imaginative Giants”, Glitch is an MMO sidescroller based around building, learning new skills and shaping the game world (or the minds of these Giants) through collective action.

Tiny Speck is founded by the co-founder of Flickr (yes, that Flickr) Stewart Butterfield and several other former Flickr employees. According to the announcement on Tiny Speck’s blog, the company has just raised $10.7 million from Andreessen Horowitz and Accel to fund the project.

Glitch is F2P, supported by purchasable in-game items and premium membership subscription. The game is expected to enter beta phase sometime next week and set to launch in fall 2011.

This reminds me of Samorost and Little Big Planet.
A surreal world with some very colorful characters.
    This could be interesting. :)
