Play a game within a game in Hedone.

F2P shooter Hedone’s closed beta is set to launch on August 24, ACONY has announced. Hedone is a F2P shooter where you fight for fame and glory in a “combat game show” that’s broadcast live around the world. In the game, you’ll customize your character’s appearance and upgrade your gears as you slowly rise to fame through the violent game show.

This isn’t the first time ACONY has tried to make a F2P shooter, the Villingen-Schwenningen based studio previously worked on Parabellum, an MMOFPS project that sadly never saw fruition. The studio seems to have learned from the experience and now takes a different approach to developing its new shooter.

“Hedone is one-of-a-kind and was designed to set itself apart from the mass of military shooters that always returned to the same settings and systems”, said Andre Herbst, a founding partner at ACONY. “Our ambitious development team is composed of more than 50 games industry veterans from over 12 nations. Together we have created an innovative game that definitely has the potential to revolutionize the online FPS market.”

ACONY will be attending this month’s gamecom, and anyone who visit their Booth at C-036 will be guaranteed a beta invite. For more information on Hedone, check out the official website.

    Its too bad that Parabellum never came to be, I really liked the idea they had.
    But atleast it helped them learn a thing or two and Hedone looks very promising with its combat game show idea and the promise of customizing your character.
    I'll keep an eye on this one. :)

    Is it me or that screenshot looks hellish close to Crime Craft? The way the map looks, textures, characters, guns…really looks a lot like it.

    It looks quite close, but you can see a lot of differences.
    For one you can see what looks like some sort of blimp in the sky in the background and the guys are wearing clothes that aren't in CrimeCraft.
    Not to mention the guns don't look like the ones in CrimeCraft.
