Dragon Nest
Closed beta application now open.

Nexon America has opened the closed beta application for Dragon Nest and announced the closed beta date to be May 17, 2011. Developed by Eyedentity Games, Dragon Nest is an action MMO that’s scheduled to launch in the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand this summer.

HeroSmash beta opens April 28.

The open beta for Artix Entertainment’s latest Flash-based MMORPG HeroSmash is scheduled to begin on April 28, 2011, according to a recent press release from the indie studio. Developed by the creators of AdventureQuest, EpicDuel and a number of other Flash-based MMOs, HeroSmash is a superhero themed MMORPG where Super Heroes and Super Villains compete for control of strategic locations and items in Super City.

Elsword beta going public next week.

Kill3rCombo is set to start Elsword Online‘s open beta on April 27, 2011. The open beta will kick off at exactly 00:00 (PDT) midnight on April 27 and beta testers will get to try out several new features that were not available in the closed beta, including the guild features, item crafting (if I read correctly), item mall and more.

Metal Assault

Metal Assault’s closed beta now has a release date. Aeria Games announced today that the closed beta will arrive on April 1, 2011. Originally called Giga Slave, Metal Assault is a 2D shoot ’em up that bears a close resemblance to Metal Slug.

Rusty Hearts

Perfect world Entertainment announced recently that it has signed with WindySoft to operate Rusty Hearts in North America. Rusty Hearts is a cel-shaded, action-based MORPG that plays like a beat ’em up. The game’s launch date has not been confirmed yet, but Perfect world Entertainment is planning to introduce Rusty Hearts at this year’s E3 (which is between June 7 – 9), so the official launch is likely sometime after E3, probably in the second half of 2011.

PSO fans, your prayers have been answered. SEGA announced at TGS 2010 recently that Phantasy Star Online 2 (PSO2) is a go. Based on the teaser trailer SEGA showcased, the game is developed for Windows PC and will arrive sometime in 2011 (hopefully worldwide). No gameplay footage was shown in the brief teaser, but it’s PSO and it’s developed in-house by SEGA, so fans should have a rough idea of what to expect.
