Heatwave Interactive announced today the acquisition of the intellectual property rights and all assets for Gods & Heroes: Rome Rising, the long awaited Roman mythology themed MMO. As part of the transaction with PlayGrid, Heatwave also obtained a source code license to the PlayGrid Platform, their online game publishing technology as well as acquiring two game development engines.

PlayEnvy announced today that the open beta for its tournament based MMO, Dungeon Bandits, will begin today at 10:00 a.m (GMT-8:00). This final wave of testing introduces several key improvements from the closed beta, including an improved game list interface which now shows all games in process, not just those being formed.

Blizzard Entertainment announced today that the closed beta test for its highly anticipated real-time strategy game, StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty, has begun. In addition to providing feedback on the multiplayer balance of StarCraft II, testers are also getting a first look at Blizzard Entertainment’s revamped Battle.net service, which will be the online platform for StarCraft II, World of Warcraft, and future Blizzard Entertainment games.

Wargaming.net announces the company is developing WORLD OF TANKS, a brand-new free-to-play MMO game based on massive numbers of armored battles. In WORLD OF TANKS 30-player teams are fighting action-packed PvP battles. The game features more than 150 armored fighting vehicles from the pre-WW2 era up to the Korean War: light, medium, heavy and super heavy tanks, tank destroyers, self-propelled howitzers and rocket artillery. The game includes American, German and Soviet tanks.
