The award-winning MMORPG RIFT is finally making its way to Southeast Asia. RIFT creator Trion Worlds will be partnering with Asiasoft to distribute the fantasy MMORPG in six Southeast Asian countries, including Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam and the Philippines.

Tribes: Ascend’s open beta will start this Friday, February 24 at 5PM GMT, Hi-Rez Studios has announced. If you’re already playing the closed beta, fear not, as there will be no character wipes and all your hard-earned progress and unlocks will be retained in the open beta.

Not just free, but truly free.
Aion’s free-to-play conversion in Europe is already a done deal, it was only a matter of time before its North American counterpart followed suit. NCSoft announced today that the free-to-play version of Aion, dubbed Aion: Ascension, is due to hit North America this spring, arriving at the same time as the game’s 3.0 content update.

The Secret World is set to launch on June 19, Funcom has announced. The game was originally scheduled to launch in April, but Funcom has decided to delay the launch to give its developers more time to polish the game.

A new mech enters the ring.
2012 is shaping up to be a great year for mech fans as another AAA mech game is set to hit the F2P space. MechAssault, Fracture and F.E.A.R. 3 developer Day 1 Studios has announced Reign of Thunder, a free-to-play third-person shooter inspired by the MechAssault series.

Test out the game’s RTS mode.
Alaplaya has kicked off the closed beta test for its post-apocalyptic MMORPG L.A.W – Living After War. According to the press relese, the closed beta test focuses on the game’s RTS mode, where players can duke it out with the opposing faction by taking command of tanks, gunships, robots and strategically placing defense turrets.

SWTOR expanding to Asia Pacific next month.
Gamers in Asia Pacific will get their very own Star Wars: The Old Republic server on March 1, BioWare and LucasArts have announced. The new Asia Pacific server will cater to gamers from Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong and Singapore, according to the press release.
